THE GOLD TOOTH DINING CHAIR
ABOUT
This dining chair in walnut and cane was originally designed for a restaurant in Santa Fe but looks elegant in many dining rooms. We love the combination of cane with walnut and consciously chose the less common ‘radio weave’. We also chose natural unbleached cane and appreciate its imperfections juxtaposed with the clean geometry of the chair. It instantly became one of our favorites. We used a low back rail to offer lumbar support while maintaining a low profile design with pleasing proportions. The applied leg construction of the front legs to the seat is unconventional in traditional furniture making but makes the chair unique. The front legs are attached with floating tenons. The edge detail for the chair is a chamfer and eases the edge while keeping the clean lines. We also particularly like the meeting of the two chamfered edges where the front legs join to the seat. We pay particular attention to picking exceptional wood grain for the back crest rail. The chair is finished with oil and wax.
