This contemporary walnut floating platform bed was originally designed for my own bedroom. It is priced and pictured as a queen with a dimensional walnut headboard, both the live edge and the dimensional headboards are seen and available. If interested in the live edge headboard I work with you to pick the exact piece of wood that will be the headboard and the price will change depending upon that choice. The entire visible structure of the bed is solid walnut, the slats are solid poplar. Both the under supports as well as the front corners of the bed are constructed with bridle joints. These joints are not only structurally exceptionally strong they are also visually pleasing by contrasting the endgrain against the face grain. The joint draws attention to the hand work involved in making the bed. We bring additional attention to the front corners by securing the joint with a pin detail in the contrasting wood of Wenge (see detail photo).The headboard is supported with custom steel supports mounting to the lower frame and floating the headboard. The headboard itself measures 67” wide 20” tall and is set to be level with the top of a 10” mattress. If a different mattress height is used we can adjust the headboard height at no additional charge. The bed is available in all sizes and in a variety of materials at varying prices, please inquire. The platform for these beds is build as a solid piece with the ‘legs’ disassembling. Please make sure if ordering a king that a platform measuring 80”x84”x2.75” will be able to get to your bedroom.
