THE PIERRE CHAIR

This Pierre Chapo inspired slipper chair in walnut is inspired by one of my favorite mid century designers and his Lo9 slipper chair. I was drawn to the low profile and pleasing proportions. The handwork in the piece is evident in the contrasting grain bridle joints in the front and back corners of the chair. I also use contrasting wood, Wenge, pin details in the front corners to further accentuate those joints. The stretchers are fully mortised on the bottom of the chair so that you can see the end grain contrast at the bottom of the front rail. The legs are turned, solid walnut and tenoned into those stretchers. The upholstery is custom made to the chair and is pictured and priced in a woven linen over a foam core. Upholstery fabrics and fillings (foam, organic cotton, or wool wrapped latex) can be customized and prices will vary depending on choice. The finish of the chair is a natural oil and wax.
