We're honored to share that our very own founder, Jonathan Boyd, is on the cover of this month's Santa Fe Magazine, with an in-depth interview inside.

It's a rare thing to see the story behind the work laid out so fully, from Jonathan's unconventional path through St. John's College, to three years spent living out of a van learning adobe construction across New Mexico, to the workshop where Boyd & Allister first took shape.

Throughout the piece, one idea keeps surfacing: that woodworking, cooking, adobe building, even restoring old cars, all come back to the same instinct. Jonathan calls himself "compulsive" rather than a perfectionist, but the word he keeps returning to is “craft” - a respect for material, for process, and for work done by hand.

The interview also traces how that same sensibility shaped Leo's, and how our own studio building, once his personal workshop for nearly a decade, informed the choices he made there, from keeping the original concrete block walls to recreating carriage-style doors inspired by the space's history. It's a thread that runs through everything we build here: an appreciation for good material, sourced thoughtfully, and construction that lets the wood do what it wants to do.
