Woodworker Sam Blackwell Featured in The Soul of Santa Fe

Our own Sam Blackwell was recently featured in The Soul of Santa Fe, a mini documentary series exploring the artisans, makers, and creative traditions that continue to shape the culture of Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico.

In the episode, Sam shares the history of Boyd & Allister and what drives our process: clean lines, honest materials, visible craftsmanship, and a deep appreciation for the natural character of wood.

Ours is the thirteenth chapter of the series, created by interior design student Reilly Monroney. Reilly set out to show the people and processes behind the finished work, telling the story of design at a moment when craft is too often overlooked.

In Reilly’s words:

“From one-of-a-kind furniture pieces to custom cabinetry, millwork, and complete interior environments, Boyd & Allister brings a distinctly hands-on approach to every project. It’s a reminder that great design doesn’t always need to be loud. Sometimes, it’s found in the grain of the wood, the precision of a joint, and the quiet beauty of something made by hand.”

We’re grateful to Reilly for spending time in the shop with us, and for the care that went into telling this story.
